Hon. Dessalegn Chanie Dagnew (PhD)

Biography

Dessalegn Chanie Dagnew (PhD) is a member of Ethiopian Parliament representing the beautiful city of Bahir Dar. He is from the National Movement of Amhara (NaMA), the main opposition party in the Parliament and is a member of the House Affairs Committee. Dessalegn currently serves as a senior leader/member of NaMA and served as its founding chairman of the party. He holds a PhD Degree in Integrated Water Resource Management from Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Maters Degree in Watershed Management from Cornell University, and is an Associate Professor of Hydrology and Water Management at the Institute of Disaster Risk Management and Food Security Studies of Bahir Dar University. Dessalegn also holds undergraduate degrees in Economics and History/Geography.
