(Parliament News): June 02, 2022: Addis Ababa: Ethiopia will hold a national consultation through the National Consultative Commission. The ambassador of Kazakhstan was well-versed that it is important to build national consensus.

Honorable Dima Nego (Phd), Chairperson of the Foreign and Peace Affairs Standing Committee of the House of Peoples' Representatives of FDRE, during his meeting with the Ambassador of Kazakhstan spoke about the importance of the national consultation.

The Chairperson of the Standing Committee and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia, Barlybay Sadykov, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields, including diplomatic consultations between the two countries. During the discussion the ambassador informed about the importance of the National Consultative Commission.

"Ethiopia has been in transition both politically and economically for the past four years," Honorable Dima said. He explained that Ethiopia was facing internal and external pressures aimed at reversing the transition.

Honorable Dima also explained to the Ambassador that a National Consultative Commission has been set up to ensure that these influences do not hinder Ethiopia's vision.

On the other hand, members of the two countries' parliaments should work together to further strengthen their diplomatic and economic ties with Kazakhstan, he said.

Ambassador Sadykov recalled that the two countries signed a bilateral agreement six years ago. He said the two countries have been holding constructive discussions on international issues.

He said On June 5, Kazakhs will vote on a package of reforms intended to transform the country from a super-presidential system to a “presidential system with a strong parliament and citizens will participate in a referendum on constitutional reforms. He said Ethiopia's national consultative forum is crucial to alleviate the country's recent challenges.

According Ambassador Sadykov Kazakhstan is fully prepared for economic and diplomatic cooperation with Ethiopia. In particular, he said they will work to strengthen parliamentary relations between the two countries soon.
