The House of Peoples' Representatives Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs Standing Committee calls Information Network Security Agency (INSA) to improve its software quality with relevant stakeholders.

The Standing Committee has given this notice during the nine months performance evaluation of the agency.

The Committee also out loud the agency’s work on ensuring the security of information, information infrastructure and developing software.

The Standing Committee also noted the need to strengthen the support of talented students in the cyber sector to develop software.

The Standing Committee stressed the need to work closely with relevant stakeholders to prevent cyber-attacks and to protect the sovereignty of the country.

According to Honorable Dr. Dima Negewo, Chairperson of the Standing Committee, the agency's contribution to exposing fake information and safeguarding the country's sovereignty is significant. He also said that it is clear from the report that the agency has applied technologies to protect system, networks and data from numerous cyber-attacks in the country at several times.

On his part, Dr. Shumete Gizaw, Director General of Information Network Security Administration, said that the agency has been able to develop various software to prevent cyber-attacks.

He added that work has been done to fully and strongly secure products and services and to ensure the ownership of technology.

He said key activities have been carried out to safeguard the country's national interests by building the capacity to secure information and information infrastructure.

He called on the House to provide the necessary support and monitoring to ensure that cyber security legal frameworks and quality standards are developed and approved as soon as possible so that the sector can move forward as planned.
