The announcement was made during a meeting between the House of Representatives' Foreign and Peace Affairs Committee and the German parliamentary delegation.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee, Honorable D.r Dima Negewo, recalled that Ethiopia and Germany have a long and strong diplomatic relationship. He said the country has been on the path of reform for the past four years, but despite the war and drought in some areas, it is still working hard to overcome these challenges.

He told the delegation that the government is providing regular flow of humanitarian aid to the people of Tigray who facing dire conditions as ongoing conflict. 

He said the government is working hard to resolve differences through dialogue and consultation by establishing a National Consultative Commission (NEC) to ensure lasting peace in the country.

He said Ethiopia is building the Grand Renaissance Dam with the contribution of its own people under the slogan "The dam is mine" to alleviate poverty. He added that the dam does not detriment the interests of other countries and focuses on mutual benefit.

He also said that Germany is supporting Ethiopia with strong technology, adding that it will continue to support investment, education, technical and institutional reconstruction in the future.

For his part, Germen parliamentary representative Honorable Roderich Kiesewetter said the two countries have strong ties.

He recalled that Germany is supporting Ethiopia economically, especially in the telecom sector, adding that it will continue to strengthen its support for education, exchange of knowledge and technology.
