The House of Representatives of the FDRE has approved a draft proclamation to enact community based health insurance.

According the 8th regular session of the 6th House of Peoples' Representatives, Community Based Health Insurance System solidifies the preexisting custom of mutual support and ensures access to equitable, quality and sustainable health service to accelerate the move towards Universal Health Coverage; which in turn improves productivity of citizens to enhance economic growth which is the main goal of the country’s health policy. The House reviewed the proposed amendment proclamation to improve the use of equitable health services and unanimously approved as Proclamation No. 1273/2022.

The House also reviewed the proclamation issued today to restructure the National Intelligence and Security Service. For detailed consideration, it directed to the Standing Committee on Justice and Democracy, in collaboration with the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and Peace affairs, as drafting Proclamation No. 7/2014.

The House noted that there were gaps in the country's information security system and that there was a tendency to abuse power. It now directs professionals in the field to be independent and impartial. The House also urged the standing committee to conduct an in-depth examination to ensure that the salaries are paid consistent with the country's current situation.

Similarly, the House has reviewed the draft proclamation to ratify the Joint Georgetown Agreement on The Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific Cooperation (OECD) and referred it to the Standing Committee on Foreign relations and Peace Affairs in collaboration, with the Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Democracy, as Proclamation No. 6/2022.

This treaty can uphold the sovereignty of the country. Therefore, as it is important in terms of peace and security, the Standing Committee directed by this draft proclamation should pay close attention to it and work hard to contribute to the development of the country and to its national interest.
