"The Reform that the Air Force has started is effective" - Speaker Tagesse Chafo

(Parliamentary News) May 6, 2021, Addis Ababa: Honorable Speaker, Tagesse Chaffo, described the reform of the Ethiopian Air Force as effective.

He made the remarks during a visit to Bishoftu Town with a delegation from the House of Representatives. He said the Air Force has been successful in designing the vision, mission and values of the institution and implementing the reform in a short period of time.

He said the Air Force has been reforming its operations with the help of technology equipment and it is a sign that it could modernize even more in the future.

He lauded the Air Force for mobilized its manpower and utilized its limited resources in the absence of adequate equipment, Honorable Tagesse said the House of Peoples' Representatives will support the Air Force in its efforts to maintain the institution's effectiveness.

The speaker said the 80th Anniversary of the Patriots Victory Day is being celebrated as our patriots overcame the invading forces when they did not have enough weapons and technology. He also said that the current generation should resist any conspiracy to undermine the sovereignty and integrity of the country.

Members of the House, for their part, said the work done to transform the Air Force is a testament to the strength of the institution and the transfer of technology from other countries is a good experience and it would be useful to handover it to other federal institutions.

Maj. Gen. Yilma Merdasam, Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force, for his part, said that the Air Force was successful in carrying out its reform agenda under the motto, “A Soldiers has a nation, not a racial” and various institutions are also supporting the Air Force to make it more effective.

The Commander-in-Chief also told the delegation that the Air Force has made good use of the limited resources allocated to it.
