Honourable Dima Nogo (PhD), Chairperson of the Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs Standing Committee of the HoPRs of the FDRE said: “Ethiopia grasps lessons of converting challenges to opportunities from the Islamic Republic of Iran” during the bilateral discussion held with the Ambassador of the Republic, this afternoon.

The discussion focused on all bilateral cooperation levels including the further diplomatic talks, with Ambassador Samad Ali Lakizadeh of Iran.

During the discussion, Honourable Dima Nogo (PhD) explained; Ethiopia has plenty of lessons to assimilate from the ways the Republic of Iran responded and resisted all the foreign influences and challenges so as to convert them to opportunities in order to replicate its recent, explicit influences and challenges, from some superpowers.

The Chairperson reminded that the two countries have had diplomatic relations since 1950 on various sectors like; economy, culture, and agriculture, industry and science topics.

Islamic Republic of Iran Ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. Samad Ali Lakizadeh on his part recalled; over twenty MoUs were signed between the two countries, as long as the hitherto interactions are concerned. Yet, his country is ready for any further cooperation with Ethiopia, he assured.

Iran, being one of the vanguard countries in the sphere of science, has the full will to share its long-standing experiences to Ethiopia, the Ambassador ascertained.

The Ambassador requested Honourable Dima Nogo (PhD), Chairperson of the Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs Standing Committee, to exert efforts in order to re-launch the already closed Embassy of Ethiopia in Tehran.

The Chairperson on his part underscored the significance of the re-launching of the Embassy despite Ethiopia’s new reform in making some arrangements regarding the Ambassadorial activities abroad.

Nevertheless, the Chairperson promised to deal the issue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to bring back the strong diplomatic ties of the two sovereign states.
