The House of Peoples' Representatives Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs urged "In order to achieve lasting peace in our country, we need to strengthen economic and social ties.”

The Standing Committee made the remarks while reviewing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' nine-month performance report.

The Committee added that the establishment of infrastructure and economic ties is crucial to establish lasting peace and resolve conflicts in our country and in the Horn of Africa. In this regard, the Committee urges the strengthening of support and monitoring activities.

Honorable Dr. Dima Negewo, Chairperson of the Standing Committee said that there is a need to improve the diplomatic pressure and foreign relations created by the international community's distorted view of the conflict in Tigray regional State. He added that efforts should be made to raise political and diplomatic support.

The Standing Committee urged the Ministry to continue its efforts to find a lasting solution to the invasion of Sudanese government the border of Ethiopia in violation of international law and bilateral agreements.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee, Honorable Fethi Mahdi (Phd), on her part, said that by implementing research on international relations and diplomacy, the rights and interests of citizens need to be protected in coordination with stakeholders by seeking investment and encouraging those who have achieved good results in the sector.

Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia said the reform carried out by his ministry will play an important role in safeguarding our national diplomacy and interest. However, he said, "In order to have a successful diplomacy, we need to secure our internal peace."

Particularizing on the invasion of Sudan, he said that in order to ensure our lasting conquest, it is necessary to resolve differences and glitches through peaceful alternatives and safeguard lasting benefits.

The House of Peoples' Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) is the largest national institution concerned with the peace of the people, land and air security of the country in accordance with the Constitution.
