(Parliament news): January 03, 2022; Addis Ababa: House of Peoples’ Representatives of the FDRE disclosed, it has established an identifiable system for nominating the prospective commissioners of the upcoming National Dialogue Commission; this morning.

Honourable Tagesse Chaffo, Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives said; the House set a committee that accepts and organizes the nomination of prospective commissioners for the NDC. The committee is proposed to accomplish tasks from the grass root of the process until the very day the anticipated prospective nomination gets ratified by the regular meeting of the House, as to the Speaker.

The committee, according to the Speaker, comprises two members and a chairperson. Henok Seyoum (PhD), Deputy Secretary - General of the Secretariat of the House is appointed to chair the committee, Honourable Tagesse added.

Likewise, the House established an Advisory Council which is expected to render the service of making the nomination of prospective commissioners participatory, transparent, credible and impartial. The Council shall be headed by the Speaker of the House and its members shall be Speaker of the House of Federation, President of the Federal Supreme Court, a representative from the Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia as well as a representative from the Coalition of Civic Societies, as to the info learnt this day.

The Advisory Council is endowed with various duties and responsibilities. One of its major duties shall be advising the Speaker about the high profile nominees among the available ones, it was indicated.

The House is seeing tremendous nomination from citizens in advance and according to the Speaker, this is invalid because the House had never announced for the official commencement of the process of nomination yet and the format of voting is still not disclosed.

The Speaker is awaited for the press conference which he is expected to meet this afternoon to make the duration, format and the whole system official, it was learnt.
