(Parliament news): Feb 22, 2022; Addis Ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) of the FDRE cleared the ongoing air of behind the curtain negotiation gossip with the TPLF for the 3rd extra-ordinary session of the HoPRs, today.

In his elaboration to the MPs, which was aired live by the mainstream media; the Premier assured his government had been involved in no any form of negotiation with the TPLF. Yet, he said; this doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be any negotiation provided that any benefit would be gained for the nation.

He added, any war conflict or negotiation that Ethiopian government conducts is aimed at achieving the greater good and realizing the public interest of the country. There will be no negotiation against the national interests of the nation, the Premier affirmed in his explanation.

Nevertheless, the Premier indicated the fact that there would be negotiation if and only if TPLF gets ready to negotiate respecting the sovereignty, national existence and territorial jurisdiction of the nation. According to him, the TPLF forces should quit being negative and disturbing forces as well as they should be convinced that they couldn’t win by waging recurrent war conflicts.

Regarding the release of senior TPLF leaders from prison, the Premier said; “the former Houses were repeatedly requesting the release of prisoners as opposed to the today’s question and this by itself could be regarded as a kind of change resulting from the Ethiopian reform”.

His further elucidation showed, the release of these elements was aimed at bringing longing and reliable peace to the nation as well as backing-up the recent military victory achieved over the TPLF aggressors.
