(Parliamentary News), June 27, 2023; The 6th House of Peoples' Representatives of the 2nd year of 26th regular meeting discussed the financial and operational audit report of the government offices of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in the 2022/2023 fiscal year.

Auditor General Meseret Damte presented the report of the financial and operational audit carried out by the federal government offices during the fiscal year.

According to the audit results of the 2022/2023 fiscal year, there are 73 institutions that have no criticism, 66 institutions that have been found to be satisfactory except for a few defects, 6 institutions that could not be commented on, and 19 institutions that have been found to have significant problems.

The audit findings observed during the fiscal year include cash and bank account management, non-timely collection and settlement of arrears, accounts payable, improperly paid payments, failure to comply with tax regulations, non-compliance with regulations and guidelines, internal revenue collection and use, budget management, property use and management are the main ones.

On the other hand, it was stated in the report that many operational systems were not implemented in the offices during the fiscal year.

The chief auditor said that the audit reports included suggestions and correcting the operational deficiencies and gaps.

The auditor-general said that financial and legality audit reports that could not be commented on, as well as audit reports of institutions that were given objectionable comments, were consolidated and sent to the honorable Speaker and investigated by the relevant body and appropriate action should be taken.
