The Speaker of the House of Peoples' Representatives, Tagesse Chaffo, visited Arba Minch town and surrounding areas of Gamo Zone Development Association.

He said the association's agricultural development activities on the acquired land are encouraging.

He said the association should learn from the agricultural activities being carried out and distribute the good practice to other areas.

He said the area is conducive for cattle fattening, dairy and poultry farming.

He said the association should be an experience center for local farmers by expanding its agricultural development activities.

He added various locally grown fruits should be added to the market.

Gamo Zone Chief Administrator and Chairman of the Board of Gamo Development Association, Berhanu Zewde, on his part said work is underway to organize the sector with professional manpower to lead the sector to better achievements.

He said the association is focusing on animal husbandry and dairy products. In particular, he said, some fattening beef is being carried out in the Borena area.

Gamo Development Association is carrying out various agricultural development activities on more than 778 hectares of land, said Solomon Washaro, head of the association's agricultural sector.

According to ENA, maize, wheat and sorghum are among the development activities of the association.
