 Inquiry Board approved its filed observation report

May 4, 2020(HOPR):- During the weekly meeting, the Board discussed the details of the performance of the Transport Authority and the Addis Ababa City Administration on prevention of the spread of #COVID-19 following the field observation.

Chairperson of the board honourable Peteros Woldesenbet said, the Board has been carrying out its responsibilities since taking office.

Honourable Momina Mohammed, who presented the report of field observation in the Federal Transport Authority, point out the strong performance of the authority and its weak spot in an effort to mitigate the virus's spread.

The Authority came to work by setting up task force, technical and sub-committees from the concerned institutions, making the public aware of the state of emergency , regulation and transport directive, with the use of variety media outlets, vehicles to operate in shifts in odd and even number plate’s. They have strongly committed preparing gate pass I.D for health care workers involved in preventing #Covid 19, as well as individuals with disabilities and kidney transplant patients.

On the other hand, the daily cross country bus transport reduced to half passengers, but the board observe above the allowable surcharge, tariffs and lack of coordination among regional states, concerned bodies and city administration which should be addressed by the authority.

Members of the Inquiry Board also added potencies and weak spots of the authority that should deal with. Deputy Chairperson of the board honourable Tesfaye Daba value notes of members and the board approved its filed observation report.

Honourable Fantaye Wondimu, who presented the report of field observation of Addis Ababa city Administration, point out the strong performance of the city administration and its weak spot in an effort in preparedness and readiness to take proactive measures to protect our city and the implementation  the state of emergency.

The management of the city administration to prevent and control the spread of the virus, from the top to the bottom, and to regularly review its implementation, co-operate with the various sectors and stakeholders, ensure appropriate trade control to avoid undue price increases on the population; According to the report, proper precautionary measures, including the mobilization of resources to avoid economic pressures, are among the strongest.

However, shortage of essential supplies, including personal protective equipment, diagnostics and clinical management, water supply and electric power on some of the city's designated shelters are noted in the report.

The members of the Board also discussed and approved the report after extensive discussion.

Subsequently, the Board consulted on the proposed on board Members' Discipline Procedures, stating that the Board meeting dates are two times a week and that the guidance shall apply to Board members and support staff on May 4, 2020.

The State of Emergency Inquiry Board that established based on the #COVID-19 outbreak to Prevent and Control the virus unanimously approved as Act No. 1/2020, Code of Conduct and Board Members Meeting Procedure.

At the end of the discussion, the Board set forth further work directions.
