null The FDRE Parliament, Approves a Resolution to postpone the National Population Census.

The House of Peoples’ Representatives and the House of the Federation of the FDRE, in their 1st joint special session, held today passed a resolution lodged to postpone the national population& Houses Census which shall be conducted every ten years, according to the constitution.

Even so the National Census Commission has made the necessary preparation to conduct the Census, it is needed to postpone for a year as some parts of the country recently experienced instability and turmoil; hence it got the assent of the parliament for the rationale to seek comforting situation to secure reliable and acceptable information by all society.

The House of Peoples’ Representatives separately scrutinized the resolution and endorsed with majority votes, 1 abstinence and 3 voted against. Then, the two Houses jointly considered the resolution and passed with majority votes and one abstinence.
