House of Peoples’ Representatives noted Ministry of Science and Technology to center its scientific study along focused areas of the Second Growth and Transformation plan while hearing the 9th month performance report of the ministry.

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr.Engineer Getahun Mekurya while presenting his report to the House, told that better improvement has been exhibited in product and service accessibility, competitiveness, community awareness creation and participation in science, wise use of resources, technology transfer, and research development and in innovative works.

The minister also addressed questions raised from MEPs of the House.

 Science, Information and Technology affairs standing committee of the House, on its part noted that the ministry should be heeding to strengthen university-industry ties and protect the country’s property right over ‘teff’.

The committee pointed out the strength of the ministry as a project introduced by internal capacity that can be used as an input by universities and research centers, sustaining internationally acknowledged areas of measurement, implementation of paperless technology in the ministry as well as in its affiliated institutions. Also, the sector has contributed for national structural transformation, the committee added.
