Speaker's message The House of peoples representatives, in accordance with article 54(1) of the constitution of the FDRE, is the highest authority of the Federal Government established by representatives elected for a term of 5 years on the basis of universal suffrage and by direct, free and fair elections held by secret ballot. The House has the power of legislating, calling and questioning the prime Minister and other Federal officials and investigating the executive's conduct and discharge of its responsibilities. The House has also major powers of approving the appointment of the Federal Judges, Ministers, commissioners, the Federal Auditor General and other officials whose appointment is required by law to be approved by it. Representatives, in its 4th term, has begun undertaking it's over sighting and controlling activities of the executive on the basis of the 5 year Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP). As indicated in
the GTP, the House believes that launching a web-site is one of the ways in which the House performs it's over all activities in a transparent, participatory and accessible manner. In its effort to discharge its public and constitutional responsibilities entrusted to it, the House has launched a user friendly web-site enabling citizens and the international community to access information regarding the activities of the House. Hence, I firmly call up on all users of our web-site to access current and previous information related to the House and participate by forwarding questions and suggestions regarding the functions and matters over which they need a response. Here by, I would like to ensure that the House works diligently to further broaden its accessibility, transparency and public service.
